PG Cert Applied Data Science Project

• Credit value: 30 credits at Level 7

• Assessment: a 1000-1500-word project proposal (20%) and 5000-word project report (80%)

The applied data science project provides you with an opportunity to work in an area of computing in depth and to develop a piece of software to address a data science need. The module will bring together the different skills developed from the other modules on the programme and will serve as a basis for implementing a data science project.

Indicative syllabus

• How to formulate the objectives and aims of a project
• How to write a project proposal relevant to a work-based project
• How to organise and plan the project according to clearly defined requirements
• How to write a project report

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

• demonstrate a knowledge of programming
• appreciate research topics related to data science
• analyse data using appropriate methods
• write programs in an appropriate programming language
• use tools to analyse data.
