Investigative Project
Overview
- Credit value: 60 credits at Level 7
- Convenor: Imke Henkel
- Assessment: a 15,000-word academic dissertation on a topic related to long-form or watchdog journalism, or a 5000-6000-word journalistic feature or portfolio of features, plus 4000-word critical commentary. You may also submit an equivalent piece of broadcast or multimedia journalism instead of a written feature, as agreed by the programme director.
Module description
You will have the opportunity to conduct a real-world investigative project, under the guidance of award-winning journalists and academic experts. A series of bespoke workshops and one-to-one supervisions will help you to develop your ideas and discuss particular challenges and risks.
Project types may include an extended feature, a series of thematically linked features, or multimedia components, along with a critical commentary that reflects on your work in light of the issues and themes covered in the rest of the course.
