Dissertation: Theatre and Performance Research

• Assessment: academic dissertation: 12-14,000 words; practice-based dissertation: creative practice plus 8000-word reflective portfolio

This module will teach you how to develop, research and present a final independent research project, with classes supported by individual supervision across the summer term. Final dissertation projects can be academic or practice-based, including presentation (live and digital), dramaturgical or writing pathways.

By the end of this module, you will be able to: 

• complete an extended independent dissertation project (academic or practice-based/led) under supervision of staff and following instruction  
• demonstrate engagement with a wide range of research methods, creative practices and theories for the study and making of theatre and performance 
• demonstrate skills in the management, planning, organisation and presentation of projects 
• document and critically reflect on creative processes, practices and outcomes.
