Overview

The SME Masterclass: Driving Digital Transformation will provide practical guidance on how to embed digital transformation into your small to medium-sized enterprise (SME), with realistic expectations and next steps for these types of business. Through practical workshops and presentations, you will gain an understanding of the difference between digitisation, digitalisation and digital transformation, gaining the tools to apply these concepts within your organisation. 

The course will outline the opportunities that may arise for SMEs when they gain an understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital tools that can support innovation and growth. You will also gain a foundational understanding of cybersecurity and how to mitigate risk when adopting digital tools and technologies. 

The course will cover key concepts relating to digital transformation, such as:

  • what digital transformation looks like in an SME context
  • the basics of cybersecurity
  • digital accessibility and inclusion
  • opportunities from AI tools and adoption. 

The SME Masterclass: Driving Digital Transformation is designed to support you at whatever stage of digital adoption you are at, providing you with a clearer understanding of the next steps in your journey. 

This course is well suited to SME leaders wishing to gain confidence when evaluating tools and technologies, and how to choose responsibly and securely to accelerate growth whilst mitigating risks. It is also ideal for those who may wish to influence and lead on technology implementation within their organisation. 

This course will be taught in HyFlex mode, though we recommend in-person attendance to maximise value from the course. 

As a learner on this course, you will study alongside fellow professionals wishing to enhance their knowledge in the subject area, giving you the opportunity to make connections with like-minded colleagues and network.

You will receive a Birkbeck certificate of participation upon completion of the course.

This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.

    This short course has no prerequisites.

    As part of the enrolment process, you may be required to submit a copy of a suitable form of ID.

    International students who wish to come to the UK to study a short course can apply for a Visitor visa. Please note that it is not possible to obtain a Student visa to study a short course.
