Overview

The Finance for Non-Finance Managers: Asset Management course will introduce you to the core principles of asset management and investment decision-making. 

You will explore how financial assets are assessed, selected and managed within portfolios and how market conditions influence investment outcomes. The course provides a clear framework for understanding investment strategies and how to engage more effectively with investment professionals and financial reporting. 

You will gain knowledge about:

  • the fundamentals of asset management and portfolio construction
  • key asset classes such as equities, fixed income and alternative investments
  • the benefits of diversification
  • how market and economic conditions affect asset prices.

By the end of the Finance for Non-Finance Managers: Asset Management course, you will have a greater understanding of how to interpret investment portfolio reports and measure and evaluate performance. 

As a learner on this course, you will study alongside fellow professionals wishing to enhance their knowledge in the subject area, giving you the opportunity to make connections with like-minded colleagues and network.

You will also receive a Birkbeck certificate of participation upon completion of the course.

This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.

    This short course has no prerequisites.

    As part of the enrolment process, you may be required to submit a copy of a suitable form of ID.

    International students who wish to come to the UK to study a short course can apply for a Visitor visa. Please note that it is not possible to obtain a Student visa to study a short course.
