Overview

Our Intermediate Latin short course gives you the opportunity to continue your study of the Latin language if you have already completed Introduction to Latin or an equivalent course (for example, GCSE Latin).

The course will cover the grammatical constructions in Sections 4 and 5 of Jones and Sidwell’s Reading Latin textbook, and aims to prepare you to confidently translate and understand literary Latin texts in both prose and verse. You will practise Latin grammar through translation exercises both from Latin into English and from English into Latin. In the second term, you will also undertake a close reading of selected portions of an unadapted literary text, the second book of Virgil’s Aeneid.

Please note: each weekly session will be two hours in length and run from 6pm to 8pm.

This can be taken as a standalone short course or as a part of:
