Science Saturdays 2021

For 2021 our programme of free online science talks will be open to a global audience and live-streamed to Birkbeck's YouTube channel on Saturday mornings throughout May.

Our speakers are drawn from our three science departments (Biological Sciences, Earth and Planetary Sciences and Psychological Sciences) and they'll talk not only about their research, but also about their career paths, with several of them taking non-traditional routes into science. The talks will reflect the cross-disciplinary nature of scientific research and highlight the part played by creativity.

This year we're also partnering with the National Saturday Club to make our inspiring talks available to students aged 13-16 across the UK – find out more about Saturday Club membership and their programme of free events.

Science Saturdays is a joint Me, Human and Birkbeck event.

online talks (May 1- 29)

Each Saturday session is free and will last around 90 minutes with two speaker talks, a chance for the audience to ask questions and a panel discussion hosted by Dr Gilly Forrester, Deputy Head of Psychological Sciences, Undergraduate Teaching and Learning, and Karien Colechin, President of Birkbeck's Psychological Society.

No booking is required to attend these talks: simply go to Birkbeck's YouTube channel (link to be published) on the morning of the talk you wish to attend.

Note: Speaker talks (excluding panel and question and answer sessions) will be recorded and may be used by Birkbeck for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media, and in third party publications.
