Application process

Please note: applications for the 2021 Summer School are now closed.

Alongside details of current and previous education, we ask applicants to submit a personal statement. Applicants should give specific details about why they would like to study under this year’s teaching cohort, and also detail their reasons for applying to study at Birkbeck, University of London.

By the end of March 2021 we will decide if the Summer School will take place in a virtual space or on Birkbeck's Bloomsbury campus. On the application form, you are asked if you wish to be considered for both options.

We have two different types of application for 2021:

  • Standard application
  • OSUN bursary application

Standard applications have three different fee levels:

  • Standard fee: £950
  • Birkbeck alumni: £825
  • Birkbeck staff, students currently studying at any formal educational institution, and CTSS alumni: £700
  • Virtual attendance: £350

HOW TO APPLY for the standard application

This is open only to applicants based at one of the OSUN educational institutes.

OSUN applicants who wish to also be considered for a standard place are asked to indicate this on the OSUN application form, so do not need to apply for this separately.

In addition to the full OSUN bursaries, there are 20 additional places for OSUN applicants, to attend either a partial virtual programme, if the School takes place on a face-to-face basis, or the full virtual programme if the School has again to be virtual this year.
