Application process
Applying for the in-person Summer School
Applications for the 2026 Summer School (in-person programme) are now closed.
Applications have three different fee levels:
- Standard fee - £995
- Reduced fee - £785. Available to Birkbeck staff and students; students currently studying at any formal educational institution; LCTSS alumni
The Summer School is a catered event. Tea, coffee, refreshments and snacks are provided in the morning as well as during breaks. In addition, the above fee categories are inclusive of lunch coupons, which can be redeemed at Terrace 5 Restaurant (Main Birkbeck Building) daily throughout the 10 days of the Summer School.
Bursaries
As shown on the application form, we offer three Birkbeck bursaries to Birkbeck students only and one BIH bursary to an international non-Birkbeck student.
We are also pleased to announce that Global Higher Education Alliance has generously taken over the sponsorship of the BIH London Critical Theory Summer School for the years 2025 and 2026, enabling us to bring in attendees from all over the globe.
We are therefore able to also provide up to 14 full bursaries (which cover fully the fee and accommodation and also pay for a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs), up to five partial bursaries (which cover fully the fee and also pay for a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs) and up to five fees-only bursaries, all for exceptional students from OSUN-member institutions but not exclusively. We especially welcome applications from institutions in the Global South.
