Introduction to Continental Aesthetics
This module will consider the philosophical aesthetics of Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, before going on to examine twentieth-century movements – phenomenology, hermeneutics, critical theory and post-structuralism – which developed from and reacted against them, taking in Heidegger, Benjamin, Merleau-Ponty, Gadamer, Adorno, Derrida and Lyotard.
