‘Archaeology is a wide-ranging multidisciplinary subject open to all. Its combination of fieldwork, artefacts, languages and historical research enables its practitioners to add greatly to our understanding of past human societies. At Birkbeck, students can develop their technical and academic skills by participating in a range of practical courses, including surveying, excavation, geophysical prospection and the recording of standing buildings, as well as classroom-based studies.’
