Eating and drinking

With Soho, Covent Garden, and King's Cross on our doorstep, you can take full advantage of London’s shops, restaurants, and bars. However, university student bars and food outlets tend to be cheaper than other non-student bars in London, so they are always a good location when you're looking to save some money. They're also great spots to meet others and get to know your fellow Birkbeck students.

Birkbeck Students' Union

Everything we do at the Birkbeck Students' Union is designed to improve your student experience. You can join clubs and societies and elect their committees, run events and set up campaigns. We also run a welcome programme that remembers that Birkbeck is home to a wide range of students with varying interests and calendars. You can also choose to sit on College committees to ensure that students are remembered and heard when decisions are made.

International students

Birkbeck is a truly international place: students from over 120 countries join Birkbeck every year, our staff come from across the globe, and our researchers are collaborating with universities, governments, healthcare agencies and businesses worldwide.

Life at Birkbeck goes beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, we offer our international students the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities ranging from online Pilates and high intensity interval training (HIIT) classes to London tours and day trips.
