Your results

Your official result will be made available to you to view via My Birkbeck. Results are never given out over the telephone.

Any information concerning results that you receive from your department will be strictly provisional and unofficial. Results will not be confirmed until ratified by the appropriate Birkbeck Board of Examiners.

Please note that Birkbeck will withhold results and you will not be able to graduate if you have not fully paid your fees.

Availability of coursework results

  • Your academic department will send you your marked coursework as soon as the examiners have completed marking them; however, these marks will only be provisional, because the relevant Board of Examiners has to confirm all marks before they can be finalised. (When you receive your notification of results, therefore, you may find they show a different overall mark and grade from that shown on your coursework.)
  • Once notified, you will be able to check your published results on My Birkbeck.

Availability of module and assessment results

  • Module and assessment element results are approved by the relevant Sub-board of examiners. These normally take place after the end of the course usually in July each year, although exceptions apply to those from the Departments of Management and Organizational Psychology.
  • Once notified, you will be able to check your published results on My Birkbeck.
  • We aim to publish the module results on My Birkbeck in August.

Availability of awards for graduating students

  • Once you have successfully completed your course and the award has been approved by the relevant Board of Examiners, you will be notified when your award has been published on My Birkbeck.
  • The timing of this can vary depending on the level of award but generally are as follows:
    • Foundation Degree (FD), Bachelor Degree (BA, BSc, LLB): late July
    • Graduate Certificate or Diploma (Grad Cert, Grad Dip): early August
    • Master's Degree (MA, MBA, MSc, LLM MFA, MRes): mid-December
    • Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma (PG Cert, PG Dip): mid December;
    • Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE): from early August to late September depending on the last teaching date.

Diplomas for graduates

  • If you have successfully completed your qualification, you will receive a diploma. The University of London will normally mail your diploma to you within six months of formal notification of your results:
    • by recorded delivery in the UK
    • by International Recorded delivery to overseas addresses.
  • You will only be issued with one diploma, so please keep it in a safe place.
