Research in the School
- Main image
Our research spans a large variety of fields, and is notable for its collaborative, interdisciplinary and innovative nature. In all departments there is a particular focus on issues of social justice, on pressing questions of ethics and politics, and on making academic research important to the wider community.
The research conducted by our staff has a highly international reach, with clusters of internationally leading or excellent activity recognized in History, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Politics and Sociology in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). The school also hosts a large number of substantial and externally funded research projects, with grants gained from the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the Wellcome Trust, the Leverhulme Trust, the European Research Council (ERC), and other bodies.
For more information, see the research pages for each department listed below, and 'Research Projects' for information on the major research projects across the departments within the School.
