Departments

The School of Science's three departments have been recognised for their educational and research excellence. Psychological Sciences were rated 5th nationally, Earth and Planetary Sciences were rated 6th and Biological Sciences were rated 11th (the last two being joint submissions with UCL) in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The School is led by the Executive Dean, Professor Nicholas Keep and the School Executive Board. The School Manager is Rabinder Bery.

A new book by Birkbeck's Dr Bruna Seu provided material for a fascinating conversation between leading members of humanitarian and international development organisations about how the sector can more effectively gain support for their work and promote public engagement.

The TEF aims to bolster social mobility and tackle inequality by allowing students to fulfil their aspirations and progress onto their chosen careers and Birkbeck’s Silver award recognises our unique and successful model for doing just that
