THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME 2007-2013
Erasmus is the part of the EU Life Long Learning Programme that covers Higher Education; Its objective is “to improve the quality and to increase the volume of HEI staff and * student mobility throughout Europe.”
Staff Teaching or Training assignments can be undertaken to any European HEI which holds an Erasmus University Charter
.
The recommended minimum duration for teaching assignments is five days and they may not exceed a maximum of six weeks. Teaching assignments shorter than the recommended period must include at least five teaching hours. Erasmus grants cover the costs of travel and subsistence.
*Birkbeck very rarely takes part in student Erasmus as the minimum student study period abroad is three months full-time. Any full-time Research Students that are interested in taking part in Erasmus should contact Trevor Pearce in Registry, who manages the Student side of Erasmus.
ERASMUS 2012/2013
The notes below are only for the staff that were included in the college application to Erasmus for funding in 2012/2013. (If you would like to take part in Erasmus 12/13 and were not included in the college application submitted March 12, please contact Marion in the Research Grants and Contacts office to check available funding)
Teaching assignments can take place between 1st June 2012 to 30th June 2013.
Before departure complete
the Annex V9 Teaching Agreement and Annex V10 Teaching Programme.
At the end of your teaching assignment you must get a signed confirmation of stay letter from your host institute, confirming the duration of your teaching.
On your return complete the online Staff Report
Reimbursement for travel and subsistance is based on actual receipts
Travel receipts can be reimbursed up to a maximum of €500.
Subsistence receipts will be reimbursed up to a maximum based on country visited and number of days spent teaching as stated in the confirmation of stay letter from your host institute, plus a maximum of two days for travel. Subsistence Rates
Reimbursment will be made once your online Staff Report has been approved by National Office and all the other above forms, plus an Erasmus Expense Claim Form with receipts attached have been received by the Research Grants and Contracts Office.

For out-going teaching assignments taking place between 1st June 2013 to 30th June 2014, please contact Marion in the Research Grants & Contracts Office by Monday 4th March 2013 to be included in the College application for funding.
