Collaborations register

The Academic Standards and Quality team in Registry provides advice and support on the development of collaborative arrangements, as well on going assistance with existing agreements.

Different types of collaborative arrangements

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a document describing an agreement between two or more parties, indicating an intended common line of action. It does not imply a legal commitment. (Template available from )
  • A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) is a document written between parties to cooperatively work together on an agreed upon project or meet an agreed objective. The purpose of an MoA is to have a written understanding of the agreement between parties. (Template available from )

Institutional Partner Agreement

The Institutional Partner Agreement is a progression agreement in collaboration between Birkbeck College and closely linked Further Education Colleges.

Birkbeck College is committed to encouraging, supporting and facilitating progression into higher education. The Institutional Partner Agreement guarantees the offer of a place on an undergraduate degree programme for students progressing from closely linked partner colleges who meet the admission criteria.
