Our research

The Department of Politics at Birkbeck is dedicated to producing high-quality research. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise politics panel confirmed significant evidence of international recognition and international excellence, including world-leading outputs, in the Department's research output.

Our physical location contributes immeasurably to our research culture, located as we are at the heart of the University of London and among the other Bloomsbury colleges. The Department’s research environment is fed by a rich diet of visiting fellows, guest lectures, workshops, seminars and conferences, some of which have been funded by Jean Monnet grants and the ESRC.
