A leading centre of academic and research excellence: Our central London location contributes immeasurably to our research culture, as well as providing students with unparalleled access to world-class learning resources.

A wide range of politics courses at certificate, undergraduate and postgraduate level. We offer expert supervision for MPhil/PhD research across the discipline, especially in political theory, political sociology, public policy, global politics, and nationalism.

Our programmes are flexible: All of our programmes can be taken either full-time or part-time, spread over a period to suit you. All class teaching is scheduled in the evenings, while tutorials and dissertation supervision take place at times mutually convenient for students and staff.

A unique student body: Many of our students have already worked for some years and established themselves professionally. The breadth of knowledge and experience they bring enriches the intellectual life of the Department for students and faculty alike.

Graduates of the department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have gone on to work for (or develop their careers) in a very broad range of employers including the House of Commons library, the housing charity Shelter, the International Institute for Environment and Development, Siemens Wind Power, the Law Society, the Confederation of British Industries, Bank of America/Merryll Lynch, the Metropolitan Police, the UK civil service, the Institute for Government, the House of Lords, the Rail Delivery Group, the European Centre for Development Policy Management. Several others have pursued their studies further in leading universities such as Oxford, LSE etc.
