The scroll features a quote written in 1924 by former Prime Minister and Birkbeck alumnus, Ramsay MacDonald, which celebrates Birkbeck’s enduring mission and ethos of widening participation in higher education.
The evening saw speeches from Birkbeck’s Vice-Chancellor and HRH The Princess Royal, who both highlighted Birkbeck’s trailblazing past and the university’s unique role in UK Higher Education.
Birkbeck’s Autumn Graduations saw seven ceremonies occur across three days in early December.
This year’s highlights included celebrating Birkbeck’s 200th anniversary, receiving very positive results from student feedback in the National Student Survey, and Birkbeck being ranked in the top 20 UK universities for social mobility.
The ongoing partnership, which began in 2013, has achieved great success, with the bank’s generous funding making a significant difference to students’ lives.

Graduation will take place from 3 to 5 May, with ceremonies being live-streamed so friends and family around the world who are not able to attend in-person can share in the excitement of the occasion.
