Assistive technology booth
The assistive technology booth at Birkbeck, located in Room 411 in the main building, is specifically designed for disabled users who need to use speech input or other assistive technology in a quiet environment.
The booth has two PCs, but is designed for one student to use at a time (the second PC has been provided for support workers or people needing to do group work).
One PC has a larger monitor and adjustable monitor arm, and we can attach specialist input devices to the computers for your use. Each computer offers a range of specialist software, including:
- ClaroRead
- OmniPage scanning software
- Dragon Naturally Speaking
- Inspiration
- Supernova
- TextHELP Read and Write
- ZoomText
The booth also has:
-
a height-adjustable table
- an orthopaedic chair
- a scanner with specialist scanning software
How to access the booth
You don't need to book the booth: it is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You will need your ITS username and password to log in to these computers.
Please note: The room is occasionally booked by college staff for training.
