An official transcript, detailing examinations taken and results achieved, will be issued automatically to all graduating students by the Examinations & Assessment Office and sent to your contact address.
How to get a copy of your transcript
If you need additional copies of your transcript (for example, if you are applying for further study at another university), here's what you need to do:
|
Request and Payment Procedure |
|---|
|
You will need to send a transcript request containing the following information to the Examinations & Assessment Office:
There is currently an administration charge of £10 per copy. For Hansard Scholars and London Semester requests there is a charge of £10 per copy. Requests will be accepted via email or fax; however, no request will be acted upon until payment has been received. Payment can be made by credit/debit card. Please note that we no longer accept cheques for transcript payments. We will need the following details from you:
Requests in personYou can also make a request in person at the My Birkbeck helpdesk using the transcript request form (pdf). These requests are still subject to the same 10-day administration period and you won't be able to collect the transcript the same day. We will accept payment in cash or credit/debit card. |
Turn-around times
- We aim to process and post transcripts within 10 working days of receipt of the request and payment (regardless of the method by which the request is made).
- You may need to allow extra time for requests made during the examination period (April-June)
- Transcripts of records prior to 1997 may take longer to produce as information must be retrieved from paper archives.
Collecting your transcript in person
If you filled in the transcript form and requested to collect your transcript, we will notify you by email once your transcript is ready for collection. Please bring photographic ID such as a passport, driving licence or Birkbeck ID card. Transcripts will be available for collection from the My Birkbeck Helpdesk in the main college building.
Currently enrolled students
If you are still enrolled on a programme and are awaiting further results (including any students waiting only for their final dissertation marks), you may still order an interim transcript. The transcript will state your 'expected' end date, and any modules with marks that have not been officially confirmed yet will appear on the transcript but the marks will be blank. The procedure (and charge) is identical to all other transcripts, and the document will still be dispatched stamped, signed, dated and sealed within an official envelope.
Electronic transcripts
Birkbeck currently cannot provide you with an official electronic copy of your transcript. All official transcripts will be a paper copy. If you are a recently graduated student, you should still retain access to your My Birkbeck Profile page, where you will be able to download a pdf document of your results, however, this is not an official confirmation of your results.
Award confirmation letters
If you simply require a letter to confirm that you hold the degree (without a breakdown of your module marks), you may prefer to request an award confirmation letter. These letters are produced free of charge.
