Event description

Come along and join us on Friday, 6th December to hear a range of talks and get involved in practical activities to support your career choices.

The event is suitable for all students who are making career transitions or want to develop in their existing field – whether that be in an employed or self-employed capacity. Advice for international students will also be included.

Sessions will run between 2pm – 5pm and repeat between 6pm – 9pm in the Clore Management Centre.

A reception with drinks and nibbles will take place from 5pm – 6pm so that you have the opportunity to meet our speakers and practise your networking skills!

The sessions will be:

Managing Career Decisions

How do you decide the best route for you? Would you like to be part of a corporate organisation, a small business or perhaps become your own boss? This session will guide you through a decision making process so that you can reflect on your skills, values and aspirations and make the right choices.

Managing networks and social media

Make the most of career opportunities by building and maintaining your professional networks. Includes tips for face to face and social networking.

Getting noticed through your CV

Develop a tailored CV that highlights your skills, catches the eye of potential employers and propels you to the next stage of the selection process.

Making an impact at Interview

Prepare effectively for a job interview, overcome your nerves, impress the panel and increase your chances of success.

Deciding to work for yourself

Taking the leap into self employment is an exciting option. Discover the mind-set of successful entrepreneurs, how to get started and key practical issues.
