Staff Survey 2008 – Results Overview

The key aims of the survey were to monitor trends in staff perceptions across a number of areas, by mapping the results against those from the Birkbeck survey in 2005, but also to explore some topics in greater detail, and to understand current views of what it’s like to work at Birkbeck – what works well and/or is valued, as well as anything that needs to be addressed.

Many thanks to all of you who took the time to give us your feedback this year (we achieved a 40% response rate).

The top ten most positive results remain broadly the same as the last survey in 2005, and include:

  • 77% say they are proud to say that they work for Birkbeck, and
  • 77% say they enjoy working here.

Our improvements in communications as a result of the last survey have been successful, with 69% report that the ’Birkbeck Matters’ magazine is a useful source of information.
