OU in London: Student Mentoring Scheme, funded by Linking London

The OU in London completed a pilot for a student mentoring scheme, which was funded by Linking London’s Development Fund.

The Mentoring Pilot was aimed at widening participation students, from the OU’s Outreach programme. Mentors gained greater insights into the challenges that students face; enhancing their listening and explaining skills. They shared in their mentees’ successes and development, finding the mentees’ determination inspired them in their own studies; the relationship became a two-way process. One mentor stating that she ‘Wouldn’t have got through the course without her mentor’s help’.
