The following is a list of the Library Teams at Birkbeck Library:

Acquisitions and Metadata team

The Acquisitions and Metadata Team is responsible for the acquisition, cataloguing, classification, processing, relegation, binding, repair and withdrawal of Library resources. This covers printed, electronic and audio-visual material held in the Library or made available over the network to Library users.

E-Services & Systems Team

The E-Services Team is responsible for the planning, development and management of library electronic information services that are delivered to Library users. The team ensures that content selection, purchasing, licensing, and access arrangements are in place. It also supports colleagues and the user community in exploiting the services to the full. Services include activities such as the setting up of electronic content platforms, maintenance of e-books and e-journals, and production of digitised readings.

The Systems Team manages the Library's Horizon system and IT resources for staff in the Library. The team also has responsibility for the management of the institutional repository (BIROn) and our digital data systems (including Luna).

Birkbeck Learning Support Advisers at Stratford

A dedicated team of Learning Support Advisers is based at the University of East London (UEL) Library on Water Lane, Stratford and University Square Stratford (USS).

  • The team provides library, learning and information technology support for Birkbeck students studying at UEL Stratford and University Square Stratford.
  • There is a dedicated collection of learning resources interfiled with the main collection in the UEL Library in Stratford.

They will be available during term time and vacations (Thurs & Sats in July) at the University of East London Library, Water Lane, Stratford, London E15 4LZ and University Square Stratford.

  • Saturday 10:00am - 4:00pm
