Research interests
Geophysical research
I am a geophysicist. I use seismic waves and other geophysical techniques to probe the interior of our planet and the Sun.
The aim is to understand the physical structures and processes hiding beneath the surface. High-resolution and state-of-the-art time-lapse methods play a key role in these studies. More specifically, I use and develop:
- wavefield and travel-time tomography
- time-lapse techniques
- seismic anisotropy techniques
- seismic reflection imaging techniques
- electrical resistivity techniques
to study
Research consortium
I am the Birkbeck PI of OSCAR, a NERC-funded £3.7 million research consortium (Durham-Birkbeck-NOC-Manchester). We aim to apply geophysical and oceanographic methods for understanding the crust-ocean interface.
Higher education pedagogy
I am also interested in pedagogic research in Higher Education, including technology-enhanced teaching and the interface between research and teaching.
