Dr Aideen Foley

Lecturer in Physical and Environmental Geography



  • I am a Lecturer in Physical/Environmental Geography with a particular focus on climate change. Prior to joining Birkbeck, I was a Research Associate at the Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research, and a Marie Curie Experienced Researcher with the FP7-funded GREENCYCLESII Initial Training Network on biosphere-climate interactions. I was also a guest researcher at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. I was awarded my PhD in Geography by the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. I also hold a BSc degree from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, in Applied Mathematics and Experimental Physics

    Research Interests

    My research focuses on the use of climate model and environmental data in adaptation and mitigation decision-making and impact analysis, with particular emphasis on how uncertainty is communicated and treated in the decision-making process.
