Find out more about travel in the medieval and early modern world and join the discussion. Anthony Bale, author of A Travel Guide to the Middle Ages, and Eva Holmberg, author of Writing Mobile Lives, 1500-1700, will discuss the opportunities and challenges of writing about travel in the past. Some brief extracts of primary sources will be posted to you before the masterclass. In the masterclass will consider how we might respond to these sources, and you will have the opportunity to describe your own critical and creative approaches.
A small selection of primary sources will be mailed to you. Please read these and bring them to the workshop. Please also read the section on John Sanderson hereHolmberg Mediating Experience. You will see that the whole book is available for free. We are very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
