Grace Halden

Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Literature

Dr Grace Halden is a cultural historian and war scholar who specialises in modern and contemporary literature on the theme of technology. Grace is the director for the MA in Contemporary Literature and Culture, convener for the BA Final Year Projects in English and Humanities, convener for Being Human (MA module), co-convener for MACCS Key Concepts 2, and convener for Lost in the Funhouse (BA module). Grace also supervises BA and MA dissertations and is acting lead for the BA Foundation Year. Her most recent publication is a monograph Three Mile Island: The Meltdown Crisis and Nuclear Power in American Popular Culture (London: Routledge, 2017).

Grace was awarded the Birkbeck Excellence in Teaching Award (BETA) in 2017; she holds a PGCHE and is a HEA Fellow.

Grace is currently working on her manuscript Contemporary Posthumanism which is under contract with Bloomsbury.
