Advice from past GDE students on progress to MSc programmes.

MSc Programmes at Birkbeck

The GDE programme is specifically designed to meet requirements for our MSc Economics/ MSc Financial Economics programmes. If you get a merit you will automatically qualify for an offer of a place on one of these programmes; we do also make offers to students who do not get a merit, but show sufficient strength in quantitative papers.

  • Federico Corrado, a former GDE student, provides some insights on moving from the GDE to the MSc at Birkbeck read here.
  • Chris Thoung, a former MSc Economics student read here.

MSc Programmes at other UK Universities

Below we provide testimonials from GDE students who went onto successfully complete Master's programmes at LSE, UCL and Cambridge. Note that the students providing this information all satisfied offers conditional upon a Distinction, and were thus amongst the strongest students in their year. If you are considering applying to one of these universities you should only do so if you expect to achieve a similar standard. The programme director is always happy to provide reference letters.
