Maintenance

The Maintenance Section, headed by the Operational Estate Manager, is responsible for ensuring that all buildings either owned or leased by the college are structurally safe and properly maintained to a high standard. Our aim is to ensure that all building work and services are installed and maintained correctly and function in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.

Our maintenance team is made up of highly trained and skilled craftspersons who strive at all times to work in a friendly, effective and efficient manner, as well as continually seeking to improve our service delivery.

Mechanical Services

  • The Mechanical Services section is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all mechanical installations and plant within the University. This includes the following services:
    • Heating Systems
    • Heating and Hot Water Boilers
    • Hot and Cold Water Distribution Mains
    • Plumbing
    • Internal and External Drainage
    • Ventilation Systems
    • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
    • Chilled Water systems
    • Compressed Air Supply
    • Natural Gas Distribution
    • Specialist plant and equipment
  • The section aims to ensure that all mechanical services are installed correctly and function in a safe, efficient and reliable manner. In addition to responding to reported faults, the section aims to ensure that a large proportion of its works is planned, preventative maintenance involving regular inspections and checks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and good practice. Throughout this section’s work a high priority is given to meeting health and safety and legislative requirements.

Electrical Services

  • The Electrical Services section is responsible for ensuring that all electrical installations and systems are highly maintained and safe to use. This includes the following:
    • General Lighting
    • Emergency Lighting
    • External Perimeter Lighting
    • All Power Circuits
    • Electrical Plant Supplies
    • Fire Alarms & Weekly Recorded Testing
    • Access Control Equipment
    • Intruder/Alarm Systems
  • In addition to responding to reported faults, the section aims to ensure that a large proportion of its works is planned, preventative maintenance involving regular inspections and checks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and good practice. Our aim is to ensure that all electrical services are installed to the correct standards, function efficiently, reliably and safely. Throughout this section’s work a high priority is given to meeting health and safety and legislative requirements.

Carpentry/Building

  • The Carpentry/Building Maintenance section is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all building fabric items. This includes the following:
    • Windows
    • Doors
    • Locks
    • Key Cutting
    • Shelving
    • Joinery
    • Signage
    • Floor Finishes
    • Roof Work
    • Glazing
    • Small Building Jobs
