BECCA

About

Birkbeck Enterprise Community Competitions & Awards (BECCA) is a dedicated extra-curricular course for students interested in enterprise and entrepreneurship, looking to develop knowledge and skills to excel as an entrepreneur.

The course provides a starting point for those with an idea, concept or wanting to set up their own business in the future, as well as fundamental  support when entering start up competitions.

Timings

BECCA is an 8-part course, with a monthly workshop between November – June. The 2016/17 course is well underway and we'll be revealing details of how to register for 2017/18 in the summer.

When signing up, your commitment is to attend a minimum of 6 workshops plus taking part in the final pitching competition.

Content

Every month will focus on a different skill or knowledge area including Ideation, Business Planning, Pitching, Funding and more. You will work in teams to develop a business idea throughout the course, using the knowledge gained in each session.

The course builds up to an internal BECCA competition where you will pitch your idea in your teams to a panel of judges, with fantastic prizes up for grabs.

The workshops are delivered primarily by entrepreneurs and external professionals who offer incredible insights into running a business.
