Consultancy for Royal Veterinary College: supporting course development

Lead academic: Dr Ben Kotzee, Department of Social Policy and Education

Between April 2009 and September 2010, the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) ran ORBIS, a bio-business skills training programme set-up as a ‘quick response’ to the economic downturn. The aims of the programme were both to provide ‘affordable, relevant and responsive bio-business skills’ to companies at a time of crisis and to allow graduate level interns to gain some valuable work experience in a company setting.

As a lecturer in the Department of Social Policy and Education with a research background in education practices and work-based learning, Dr Ben Kotzee had a wealth of experience to offer when he was approached by the RVC to work as an external examiner of the programme. His work consisted of reviewing its impact and design, enabling the RVC to assess the outcomes of the project objectively and to refine their concept and set-up.
