Research excellence

Working in close collaboration with the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology, the Department is recognised for the excellence and international impact of its research. In the REF2014 the department's joint submission with UCL was ranked as 11th in the UK based on Grade Point Average.

Research could spell new approach to preventing progression of Huntington’s disease

The findings suggest that the harmful aggregates associated with Huntington’s disease emerge from a form which could be reversible. This could have major implications for slowing or preventing disease progression in the future.

ISMB 'Friday Wraps' provide a forum around which to relax and get to know other members of the Institute. They also aim to facilitate communication among postdocs and students. These Friday meetings are held weekly.
