Applying for the in-person Summer School

The application process for the 2024 Summer School (in-person programme) has now closed. The deadline for applying was 5 January 2024.

Applications have three different fee levels:

  • Standard fee - £975
  • Reduced fee - £775. Available to Birkbeck staff and students, students currently studying at any formal educational institution, LCTTS alumni, alumni from OSUN institutions

Bursaries

As shown on the application form, we are able to offer three Birkbeck bursaries to Birkbeck students only and one BIH bursary to an international non-Birkbeck student.

In addition, the Open Society University Network have generously provided up to 15 full bursaries (which cover fully the fee and accommodation and also pay a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs) for exceptional students from all OSUN-participation institutions (please see a full list of OSUN Member Institutions). Our funders especially welcome applications from OSUN institutions in the Global South.

Alongside details of current and previous education, we ask applicants to submit a 400-word personal statement. Applicants should give specific details about why they would like to study under this year's teaching cohort, and also detail their reasons for applying to the London Critical Theory Summer School at Birkbeck, University of London, including relevance to their academic interests and the kind of impact that their participation to the Summer School shall have to their research and/or to their community.

Applying for the 2024 Summer School virtual Stream

Applications for the 2024 LCTSS virtual stream closed on 5 January 2024.


The 2024 LCTSS virtual stream is intended as an educational experience for those of you not sure whether you are ready for the full in person course, if you have concerns about travel or are on a reduced budget

Cost

All participants to the virtual programme pay a fee of £220.

Bursaries

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Open Society University Network, we are able to offer up to15 bursaries for students from educational institutions who are part of OSUN to attend this version of the programme.
