Key facts about the Department of Biological Sciences:

• Formed in August 2009 through a merger of the former Schools of Biological and Chemical Sciences and Crystallography. Our web sites will be unified soon, but meanwhile Crystallography maintain their own web site, www.cryst.ac.uk, which has details of their world-leading research and Masters teaching in structural biology and bioinformatics.

• We also offer a wide range of programmes in biology and chemistry at all levels, with flexible entrance requirements. Almost all are offered part-time, by evening study.

• Our teaching is rated as excellent.

• Our research in biology and chemistry spans genes to whole organisms and is applied to environmental analysis and conservation, biosensors, gene and molecular studies of host-microbe interactions, bioremediation and therapeutics.

• We are conveniently based in central London.
