'What is the Exact Nature of the Catastrophe?’ New Worlds magazine and the 1960s counter-culture in the UK

My project contexualises the radical change within science ficion in the 1960s, known as the 'New Wave', within the historical, political and cultural discourses of the counter-culture as it appeared in London during the period. The focus is on the British science fiction magazine New Worlds edited by Michael Moorcock with contributors including such well known writers as J. G. Ballard and Thomas Pynchon as well as lesser known experimental writers such as Pamela Zoline and Thomas Disch.
