White Rascals and Black Mischief: Objects, Anecdotes and Post-Revolutionary Haiti in the Atlantic World

My dissertation is on the circulation of anecdotes and objects about and from the brief reign of Henry I of Haiti (1811-1820) in the Anglophone Atlantic. I interrogate the ways in which they occupy the larger evolution of racialising assemblages and practices in the long nineteenth century.
