Current research interests

My recent research has concentrated on the role of the visual in devotion in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, with a special focus on images associated with miracles. My book, Art and Miracle in Renaissance Tuscany, is forthcoming with Cambridge University Press.

In 2014-15 I held a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship to pursue a project entitled Identifying with the Art of the Fifteenth Century.

One element of the project was a conference, Frontiers of Fifteenth-Century Art, which took place at Birkbeck on 17 September 2015. The presentations can be accessed through the project blog (link above).
