Tax efficient giving

Your gift can be worth more to Birkbeck than you realise, and at no extra cost to you. This means that as a donor you can do more for the College.

There are several different ways in which the value of your gift can be increased:

• Matched funding scheme – Until 2011, the UK government is matching donations to UK universities, in Birkbeck's case on a 2:1 private to public funding ratio. There’s never been a better time to give!
• Gift Aid – Birkbeck can reclaim the basic rate of tax which UK taxpayers have already paid on the money they donate
• Payroll giving
