Course structure
You are required to complete eight modules; two in the first year and three in each of the remaining two years. The programme can be completed in eight academic terms, spread over three academic years. Year 1 begins in January, while Years 2 and 3 begin in October. The final year allows you to select one of two pathways, focusing either on management or on accounting and management.
Year 1
- Approaches to Studying Management with Personal Development Planning (a work-relevant module)
- Introduction to Computing Technology (half-module).
- Mathematics for Business (half-module).
Year 2
- Groupwork in Practice (a work-relevant half-module).
- Introduction to Accounting
- Management Studies
- Quantitative Methods 1 (half-module).
Year 3
Management route:
- Choice of three of the following four half-modules: Employment Relations and HRM; Marketing Principles and Practices; Operations Management; Organizational Behaviour
- Managerial Economics 1 (half-module)
- Work-Based Learning Module (a work-relevant module).
Accounting and Management route:
- One of the following two modules: Financial Reporting or Advanced Management Accounting
- Managerial Economics 1 (half-module)
- Quantitative Methods 2 (half-module).

Further study opportunities
On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, you may progress directly to Year 3 of Birkbeck's BA Management, BA Accounting and Management, or BSc Business honours degrees.
