In November 2009, three sculptures were submerged in the Caribbean waters, off the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico's eastern state of Quintana Roo, in a growing underwater display of art.

These sculptures are constructed from PH Neutral concrete which will attract natural aquatic growths and encourage new eco systems in an area coral reef that has been affected recent hurricanes. In October 2010, the lead artist Jason de Caires Taylor completed his plans to construct over 400 life size figurative works which are dotted around the region's national park.

Jason de Caires Taylor created the first Underwater Sculpture Park in Granada in 2006. To read about this sculpture project, visit the entry.  To learn more about the artist, visit www.underwatersculpture.com.
