Our research projects are in the areas of molecular chaperones and assisted protein folding/unfolding, misfolding into amyloid, and protein refolding in membrane pore formation. We use single particle cryo-electron microscopy and electron tomography to study isolated complexes, irregular assemblies and cell sections.

Through a multi-disciplinary approach using biophysical and structural experimental methods, structural bioinformatic analysis and physics-based molecular simulation, we aim to develop as complete as possible an understanding of the formation of biomolecular complexes. We aim to ulitise this knowledge to combat disease via structure-based drug discovery and design, particularly in the area of anti-microbial therapy.
