    Biography

    Dr Heron joined Birkbeck’s Department of Politics in November, 2021. He writes, teaches and researches at the intersection of contemporary political theory, global political economy, and critical geography with a focus on land struggles, climate struggles, and ecologically regenerative futures.

    Before joining Birkbeck, Kai taught at The university of Manchester and The University of Liverpool. He has been a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Leicester and he was the 2017-2018 Pre-Doctoral Fellow at the Fisher Centre for the Study of Gender and Justice at Hobart William Smith Colleges, New York. Kai is an Associate at the progressive think tank Common Wealth and an Associate Editor at Contention Journal.
