    Biography

My research interests include history and theory of photography, photographic materiality and exhibition, the evolution of photography as art (especially its uses in relation to other forms of visual art) and the social and political uses of photography in the 20th century. I am also interested more broadly in modern and contemporary art history, particularly the European avant-garde, American Abstract Expressionism, and contemporary art photography.

In addition to lecturing, I also work as a writer and editor. I am currently the Assistant Editor for the journal, History of Photography, and have written for publications such as ApertureThe Burlington Magazine and Frieze. My book, The Materiality of Exhibition Photography in the Modernist Era, will be published by Routledge in 2020.
