Biography
Jan Udris has been with Birkbeck for an ever-growing number of years, and currently also teaches/lectures at Luton Sixth Form College.
He has carried out research on the ideology of humour and would claim ideologies of representation and pleasure as an abiding interest. He has presented papers at international conferences and has written articles for various European journals as well as co-authoring a film studies textbook Studying Film, published by Arnold in 2001, a second edition of which appeared in 2011 with Bloomsbury.
He also contributed a chapter on Marleen Gorris, A Question of Silence to a recent book in the Wallflower .24 Frames. series, Cinema of the Low Countries.
