Askold Kurov’s documentary follows the show trial of Ukrainian film maker and activist Oleg Sentsov, arrested by the Russian secret services in 2014 for his opposition to the annexation of Crimea. Sentsov rejects the role of a scapegoat and accuses the accusers themselves. The film analyses the workings of the repressive Russian state machine with its contrived charges of terrorism, sophisticated torture methods, and inevitability of the 'guilty' verdict.
