Linking London Online Discussion Forum: All Change for the UCAS Application Deadline?

When:
Venue: Online

When should the UCAS application deadline for applicants be; as it is currently, the last Wednesday of January or the second Wednesday, or even mid-December?

This is what UCAS are currently consulting widely on and have asked Linking London as a valued stakeholder to share the link to the consultation with our partners.

On the 21st we will be outlining the options in more detail, touching on the pros and cons of each before opening up to colleagues for their views. The views of partners will then feed into our partnership response to UCAS, in time for the deadline of the 24th of this month.

Carolyn Mindos, Principal Admissions Reform Lead at UCAS, will be setting the scene explaining why the deadline needs to be reviewed now, what’s changed, the 3 key options and how they each might impact on students. We will then go into breakout groups to provide our school/college and university partners time to discuss the pros and cons of each option and feedback their thoughts.

The UCAS timing of the UCAS deadline for equal consideration is important and has consequences not only for applicants but for HE providers (in terms of the period of time available to make decisions) and Careers Advisers alike. Do come along and share your thoughts over a coffee (you’ll have to make it yourself though I’m afraid!).
