Get Ahead, Stay Ahead: Writing essays and assignments

Get Ahead, Stay Ahead is a series of online study and writing skills workshops running throughout September, designed to help you prepare for university before the start of the academic year. 

This workshop provides an overview of how to approach your essay or assignment. We will briefly consider:

·       how to analyse the question or brief

·       how to approach your research and reading

·       how to create an essay plan and structure for your assignment

·       how to tackle the first draft

This online workshop will take place on Microsoft Teams. 

The resources and recordings will be found after the workshops on the Birkbeck Study Skills Moodle module (student login required) in the Get Ahead, Stay Ahead Workshop Resources section.

This workshop will repeat on Tuesday 5th September at 1pm, Saturday 16th September at 10am and Thursday 21st September at 6pm.

Birkbeck Study Skills also run study and writing skills workshops throughout the academic year.

  5. Writing Grammar: Sentence structure and punctuation
