Study skills: Critical thinking - building and evaluating academic argument

When:
Venue: Online

Book your place

The ability to evaluate other peoples’ academic argument and to build your own academic arguments in your work is essential to success in your studies. This session will consider what is meant by academic argument; and how to critique other peoples’ positions in your reading and how to construct a sound academic argument in your writing/speaking. An engagement with academic argument is crucial to avoiding feedback such as ‘too descriptive, more analysis is needed’ or ‘some knowledge and understanding, but where is the analysis/argument’.

This workshop is run in conjunction with the 'Critical thinking for university' workshop which can also booked on the events booking system.

This online workshop will take place on Microsoft Teams and you will receive the link when you register for the workshop (check your spam folder if you can't see the email). It is intended for enrolled Birkbeck students only, and you will require your student login details to access the workshop.

If you encounter any problems booking events through My Birkbeck, please book via the Birkbeck Events webpage.
